Emperor Taizu
The Northern Song Dynasty emerged after a man named Zhao Kuangyin forced the last emperor of the Latter Zhou Dynasty to give up his throne. He then declared himself as the first emperor of the Song Dynasty and changed his name to Emperor Taizu
One of the first things Emperor Taizu did was remove the military power from the general leaders and place it under the emperor's control only. He formed a centralized government and made it clear that literature was valued over military. This lead to the invention of many new things and helped the dynasty prosper.
