Song Dynasty
- The Song Dynasty ruled in China from 960 until 1279
The Song Dynasty, made up of the Northern and Southern Song, was a very prosperous time period for China's economy and culture. Several achievements/important events that happened during this dynasty consist of the appearance of paper money, new inventions, and advancements in literature and agriculture.
New Inventions
During the Song Dynasty both the compass and the typography were created. Gunpowder was also developed which changed the way wars were conducted, and led to the manufacturing of guns.

New Advancements The first paper currency was created during the Tang Dynasty, but became a government policy during the Song Dynasty. It was called Jiao zi and began printing in the Northern Song. Other new advancements included a new kind of rice that helped the economy prosper, and many new names in Chinese literature.
